Halcyon Corporation to cease operations on Aug. 5, 2020. Most Halcyon staff will join Colorado Visiting Nurse Association.
Arvada, Colo. – The Halcyon Corporation is choosing to discontinue operations on Aug. 5, 2020. Most Halcyon staff will join the Colorado Visiting Nurse Association (VNA).
The expanded Colorado VNA will remain a mission-driven nonprofit, serving much of Colorado’s Front Range, from Douglas County to Larimer and Weld counties and including the Denver metro area.
Colorado VNA and Halcyon already share administrative office space in Arvada, Colo. and are affiliates of the not-for-profit Care Synergy network.
“This move will strengthen Colorado VNA, benefiting patients, employees and referring providers and facilities,” said Tim Bowen, president and CEO of the Care Synergy network. “The transition will be smooth while expanding the continuum of care offered and the service area.”
No layoffs are expected at Colorado VNA as a result. Nine Halcyon positions will be eliminated; impacted employees will be encouraged to apply for other appropriate openings within the Care Synergy network.
Colorado VNA President Christopher Lee will continue in this role for the larger organization. Halcyon Interim President Pat Mehnert will ensure a successful transition.
“Colorado VNA has a distinguished community legacy of more than 130 years and this will allow us to grow and prosper while expanding our clinical expertise and the breadth and depth of care offered to patients,” Lee said. “I am excited about the potential in enhancing Colorado VNA, one of the largest home health agencies in the state.”
“I’m confident this is the right move at this juncture,” Mehnert added. “Our patients will experience a smooth transition that expands their access to a broader range of care.”
This will have no direct impact on the three other Care Synergy hospice and palliative care Affiliates: Pathways, Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care and The Denver Hospice. They will remain independent nonprofit providers, reflecting their deep community roots, unique legacies and strong positions in their markets.
