As healthcare costs continue to rise, more employers are seeking out the benefits of Workplace Wellness Programs to promote healthy lifestyles in their workforce. Risk factors such as tobacco use, overweight and obesity, poor nutrition and lack of physical activity are modifiable through lifestyle interventions. Research demonstrates that investments in Workplace Wellness Programs can stimulate reductions in health care costs and thus health insurance premiums for employers.
Colorado Visiting Nurse Association partners with local organizations to provide on-site Workplace Wellness Programs including:
- Biometric Screenings
- CPR and AED (automated external defibrillators) certification trainings
- Customized health education workshops
- Health Risk Assessments (HRAs)
- Immunizations, including Hepatitis B & annual Flu Shots
- Tuberculosis screening
- Blood draws to help identify many health issues including:
– Diabetes (A1C)
– Prostate screening (PSA)
– Osteoporosis (Calcium)
– Thyroid issues (TSH)
– Vitamin D and/or Vitamin B deficiency
The Colorado Visiting Nurse Association offers programming compatible with an organization’s wellness goals. We can plan a one-time event or create an ongoing program customized to employees’ needs.
Biometric screenings provide vital health information for your employees. In fifteen minutes, we can complete a wide range of standard health screenings and deliver real-time results.
The screening includes body measurements and a simple finger stick to obtain a blood sample. The following measurements are collected:
- Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol to HDL ratio
- Fasting glucose
- Blood pressure
- Height, weight, BMI (body mass index)
- Waist size/circumference (optional – abdominal fat is a predictor of obesity-related diseases)
On-site biometric screenings provide immediate feedback about risks of diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and other chronic conditions. The results are shared only with each individual and include recommendations on how to reduce risk factors, which may include follow-up care or lifestyle changes. For some employees, a timely biometric health screening can have a tremendously positive impact on their health, productivity, and well-being. When aware of these findings, employees are more likely to take a proactive role in their health and lifestyle changes.
Chem 16 Panel
These 16 essential tests give a picture of your heart, kidney and liver health. They can help to identify if any of these key health systems are not working properly. The tests can also help your doctor identify developing health issues such as osteoporosis and pre-diabetes.
Blood will be drawn and sent to an outside lab. The results will be sent to your office within two weeks. (Full lists of tests available upon request.)
Health Risk Assessment (HRA)
The HRA is confidential online assessment which considers your lifestyle habits and health history to determine how healthy you are and whether you’re at risk for certain chronic diseases or illnesses. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Our nurses bring each person’s results to your office and provide personalized guidance on how each person can achieve their optimal health.
