Eloise

Eloise, 34, an active, single mother of two in Denver, was doing well: good job, two-floor apartment, kids succeeding in school. Then her employer closed its doors. While seeking new employment,Eloise had a massive stroke. Unable to walk
β€”much less workβ€”her unemployment insurance was terminated. It would take months to get disability support started. She needed help. Now. A friend suggested VNA.

β€œThe Visiting Nurse team turned my life around. They made it possible for me to recover in my own home with my kids by my side,” said Eloise. VNA nurses and therapists organized her medical care, restructured her home to allow for mobility, and designed a rehab program to strengthen her body. VNA volunteers stocked her kitchen with healthy food from the VNA pantry. A VNA social worker helped her complete confusing disability forms. And a VNA speech therapist helped her regain her speech. Offering continuity of care across all services, the VNA team helped Eloise recover her self-confidence and get back on her feet. In three months, she was able to find work and continue life with her family.
